KUCHING: Muhammad Johan Ghazali Zulfikar, also known as Jojo, has clarified that he had no intention of giving a bad name to other sports.

The 17-year-old Sarawak-based Muay Thai prodigy made this clarification following a video interview about Silat (a Malay martial art) that recently went viral on social media.

“I never intended to belittle any other sports, as mentioned in the video. I was merely answering based on my experience and knowledge.

“I hope those who felt offended will understand the context behind this video and what I intended to convey,” he posted in a comment section on Facebook.

Jojo said the question posed to him about his view on Silat was indeed very complicated, acknowledging the lack of a straightforward answer.

“But I answered based on my opinion. It is more or less like asking whether badminton or tennis is better.

“Anyway, I respect other sports, and God willing, one day I might delve into Silat to gain more knowledge,” he said.
