KABONG: The leaders of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) have never been impartial when implementing development plans.

Kabong assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir said the main goal of the GPS state government was to ensure that the entire Sarawakian community enjoyed development, even in areas located far inland.

He said that all constituencies, including Kabong of which he had been the people’s elected representative for four years so far, received development projects even if these were done in phases.

“Being partial and only providing development in a particular area is not my way. Every village, longhouse, or area in Kabong is eligible to receive development projects regardless of their political support,” he said on Saturday.

“Although development projects may not be implemented simultaneously and instead are done in phases, I do my best so that all the people in Kabong can benefit,” he added.

Mohd Chee said that it was regrettable that some individuals were throwing accusations at him and claiming that he was impartial by not providing equal development in his constituency.

“It should be understood; a development project is done in stages – we cannot do it altogether as a whole and it takes a long time,” he explained.

He said, similarly, the allocation for development projects required approval from the state government.

Regardless of the accusations, he assured that he would continue to be committed to doing his best so that everyone in Kabong could benefit from development in the area.

He called on the Kabong community not to discriminate against development in an area, reminding that there was no such term as ‘favouritism’ in providing development.

He said that efforts to balance rural development with that in urban areas were continued by the GPS state government for the sake of the people of Sarawak, and it was not just a political gimmick.

“What the state government under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is doing is for the sake of the people in all parts of Sarawak, and not just political polemics as claimed by some who prefer to play politics,” he said.
