MIRI: Former Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Pujut branch chief Abu Bakar Amit and several members who left the party will not affect the strength of PBB.

PBB Piasau branch chairman Mohamad Sardon Zainal in response to the decision made by the former PBB members, said the fighting spirit and loyalty for PBB under the leadership of Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg still remained strong.

“I believe he (Abu Bakar) has his personal reasons. But PBB in Miri zone is still strong,” Mohamad Sardon said in a statement today.

Julaihi Mohamad

Meanwhile, PBB Senadin branch chairman Julaihi Mohamad said Abu Bakar’s decision to join Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) would not affect the strength of PBB Pujut branch.

“It is his personal business and we are confident that such action will not affect the support of PBB members in Pujut branch for Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS),” he said.

He said the party believed that the support towards PBB would continue to be strong and firm under the leadership of Abang Johari.

“At the same time, as the chairman of PBB Senadin, I would like to state here that PBB Senadin branch stands firmly in support of Abang Johari who is the president of PBB,” he said.

Ngadan Melintang

Meanwhile, PBB Pujut branch deputy chairman Ngadan Melintang said he was shocked and upset by Abu Bakar’s action.

“PBB Pujut has already formulated action plans and strategies to face the upcoming 12th State Election. We will hold an emergency meeting to discuss what needs to be done next.

“I also want to thank Abu Bakar and Lila Mohamad for their previous contributions to PBB,” he said.
