KUCHING: “Don’t try to become prime minister now since you have failed when you were given the chance,” said Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar.

The Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister were apparently taking a jab at former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad who is seeking to oust his successor Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and return to office.

“I hope they (Tun M and his supporters) would not remove the newly-formed government because Muhyiddin is currently doing a great job in governing the country.

“Wait until the 15th general election (GE15) and let the people decide, stop wasting your effort on removing the government now,” he said.

He made the remarks when officiating at the presentation of emergency medical and education assistance to Pantai Damai constituency held at the Santubong Parliament Service Centre in Satok yesterday.

Wan Junaidi who is also the Santubong MP said that during Dr Mahathir’s reign for 22 months, he did not do well which led to the country’s economy to drop.

“The current government on the other hand, is a good and people-centric government,” he said.

He also stressed that the then-Pakatan Harapan government has blown its chance when the country was in tumultuous state under its governance for 22 months. Thus, he said they must not be given a chance to screw up the country again.

Meanwhile, Wan Junaidi said Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) was doing its best for the people of Sarawak.
