KUCHING: The congested situation due to the large number of Covid-19 patients being treated at the Sibu Hospital as reported earlier is now under control.

In saying this, State Health Department director Dr Chin Zin Hing stated that some of the patients were waiting to be transferred to the Sibu Covid-19 Low Risk Quarantine and Treatment Centre (PKRC).

“These patients were awaiting for transfer to the respective PKRC today. There are 112 patients.

“Fifty-one have been transferred to Sibu Ministry of Health Training Institute (ILKKM), 51 to PKRC HDS, and four to the ward,” he told New Sarawak Tribune today.

He added that the last transfer was at 9.30pm on Thursday, and the buses transferring the patients were all back at 11.30pm.

Dr Chin was asked to comment on the present situation at the Sibu Hospital as Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) chairman Clarence Ting Ing Horh on Thursday had said that many Covid-19 patients were sleeping on the floor because there were not enough beds at Sibu Hospital to accommodate them.
