No new case in Sarawak

KUCHING: No new positive Covid-19 case was recorded in the state yesterday.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement yesterday said the total number of Covid-19 cases statewide remained at 572 since the last case was detected last Monday in Bintulu.

There were also two newly discharged patients from Sarawak General Hospital and Sibu Hospital, bringing the total number of patients discharged to 551 or 96.33 percent.

“There are 58 new person under investigation (PUI) cases and seven are currently awaiting laboratory test results,” said SDMC.

It added that as of yesterday, four Covid-19 patients were receiving treatments at isolation wards in hospitals throughout Sarawak while the total number of deaths remained unchanged at 17.

SDMC said 116 persons under surveillance (PUS) checked into various hotels throughout Sarawak for their mandatory 14-day quarantine.

This brings the current number of quarantined PUS to 697 persons in 11 hotels statewide.

On the statewide monitoring of standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance, SDMC said the surveillance team comprising  645 personnel  inspected 2,068 locations including 339 supermarkets, restaurants (428), factories (14), banks (185), government offices (106), hawker centres (41), markets (101), places of worship (125), recreational areas (66), construction sites (27) and others (636).

Six roadblocks were conducted in five districts throughout the state as part of Ops Benteng.

The roadblocks covered two locations in Lundu and one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman and Lubok Antu with a total of 994 vehicles inspected.
