No new cases for Sarawak

KUCHING: The state recorded zero Covid-19 cases today for the first time in the past 30 days.

The last time the state recorded zero cases was on Oct 21.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said there were no additional cases to the six existing active clusters in Sarawak, with the total number of Covid-19 cases remaining at 1,055.

The committee informed that there was one newly recovered and discharged case from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

“This brings the cumulative total of recovered and discharged cases to 972 or 92.13 percent,” it said in a statement today.

A total of 64 patients are currently receiving treatment at isolation wards in hospitals, namely, 56 at SGH and eight in Miri Hospital, it added.

“No new deaths were reported with the death toll remaining at 19 or 1.80 percent.”

It added that a total of five new persons-under-investigation (PUIs) were reported while none was currently awaiting laboratory test result.

SDMC also informed that 307 new persons-under-surveillance (PUS) had been checked into hotels to undergo quarantine.

This brings the current total number of US at 31 hotels and non-hotel quarantine centres statewide to 3,206 persons, while 32,754 PUS had completed their quarantine period.

Additionally, SDMC noted that Kuching district remains a red zone with 59 locally transmitted cases reported in the last 14 days.

“Miri and Lawas districts also remain as yellow zones,” it added.
