No new positive case

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded no new Covid-19 positive case today, maintaining the total number of cases in the state at 552.

According to a statement by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today, ten Covid-19 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals — three each from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and Sibu Hospital, and two each from Bintulu Hospital and Miri Hospital.

“Thus far, the total number of Covid-19 cases which have recovered and been discharged is 486, or 88.04 per cent,” it said.

Seventy-six new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases were reported today and 166 cases are still awaiting laboratory results.

As of today, 48 cases were undergoing treatment at hospitals, with one in intensive care unit (ICU) and one requiring breathing assistance.

On person-under-surveillance (PUS), the committee said that 129 have checked into hotels to undergo quarantine, bringing the total number of PUS in 38 hotels statewide to 666 while 12,044 have completed their quarantine period.

Meanwhile, SDMC reported that 6,162 applications for inter-district movement were received at 28 district police headquarters throughout Sarawak today, bringing the cumulative total to 76,130.

“Of this total, 69,747 have been approved and 6,383 were rejected,” it said.

It added that 1,897 locations have been monitored today by surveillance teams, including supermarkets (352), restaurants (381), factories (34), banks (161), government offices (91), hawker stalls (23), public markets (114), places of worship (105), recreational places (49), construction sites (23) and others (564).

Twenty-nine arrests were made today for conditional movement control order (CMCO) violation.

“Thirty-six individuals were compounded for trying to cross districts without a police permit, bringing the total compounded to 97 since May 19,” it said.
