No new positive cases for 4th consecutive day

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded no new positive Covid-19 cases yesterday for the fourth consecutive day; the total number of cases remained at 544 since the first positive case was reported on March 13.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement yesterday, said four new recoveries were discharged from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

It said the total number of cases which had recovered and been discharged was 432 or 79.41 per cent.

SDMC added seven more person under investigation (PUI) cases had been recorded, and 29 PUIs awaiting laboratory test results.

It also said 94 cases were undergoing treatment in hospitals, with one case treated at the intensive care unit (ICU) and no patients having intubation support.

So far, 6,331 Sarawakian students had returned from West Malaysia, Sabah and Labuan while SDMC had coordinated the return of 1,702 local students in Sarawak to their respective home towns.

Another 1,246 persons under surveillance (PUS) checked into hotels to undergo quarantine yesterday, bringing the total number of PUS in 31 hotels to 3,016, while 5,181 PUS had completed their quarantine.

On the inter-district travel applications, SDMC said as of yesterday 4,944 applications had been received from 28 police district headquarters, bringing the cumulative total to 26,992 applications so far.

Of these applications, SDMC said 25,237 had been approved while 7,500 were rejected.
