No new positive Covid-19 case so far

KUCHING: No new positive Covid-19 case have been recorded in the state thus far.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the total number of Covid-19 cases statewide remained at 557 — the first positive case was reported on March 13.

He also noted that one patient had been discharged from Sarawak General Hospital, bringing the total number of patients discharged to 534 or 95.87 per cent.

“There are 18 new person under investigation (PUI) cases and eight are currently awaiting laboratory test results,” he said during SDMC’s daily Covid-19 update on Monday.

He said there were currently six Covid-19 patients being treated at hospitals, zero case of admittance to intensive care units, and zero case that required the use of ventilators.

“The total number of deceased patients remain at 17,” he added.

Additionally, he said another 98 persons under surveillance (PUS) were checked into various hotels throughout Sarawak for their mandatory 14-day quarantine.

“This brings the number of quarantined PUS to 679 in 15 hotels statewide.”
