No new positive Covid-19 cases on Tuesday

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded no new positive Covid-19 cases on Tuesday (July 14), with the total number of positive cases in the state thus far remaining at 580.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said that two new cases had recovered and been discharged from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) on Tuesday.

“This brings the total number of positive Covid-19 cases which have recovered and been discharged to 554, or 95.52 per cent,” he said at the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) Covid-19 daily update press conference on Tuesday (July 14).

He said that eight individuals were still receiving treatment at hospital isolation wards and the total number of deaths remained at 18, or 3.10 per cent.

There were no cases in the intensive care unit (ICU), nor were there any that required breathing assistance.

“Today (Tuesday), 20 new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases have been reported, and 12 are still awaiting laboratory results,” he said.

Uggah, who is also SDMC chairman, reported that 128 persons-under-surveillance (PUS) had been checked into hotels on Tuesday to undergo quarantine, bringing the total number of PUS at ten hotels to 566, while 18,524 PUS had completed their quarantine period.

He said that that 1,897 premises had been surveyed on Tuesday for recovery movement control order (RMCO) compliance, consisting of supermarkets (288), restaurants (378), factories (7), banks (160), government offices (78), hawkers (32), public markets (205), places of worship (87), recreational places (67), construction sites (24), and others (571).

On Op Benteng, he said that there were six roadblocks in five districts on Tuesday, namely two in Lundu and one each in Bau, Serian, Sri Aman, and Lubok Antu.

“From these six roadblocks, a total of 1,097 vehicles were checked,” he said.
