MUKAH:  There was no report from consumers on traders flouting the laws so far in conjunction with the Festive Season Maximum Price Control Scheme (SHMMP) for Christmas 2020 in Mukah division.

The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Mukah branch chief Salihin Den said no offences were committed by traders during the implementation of the scheme.

He added the ministry continued as usual with its routine monitoring on essential food supply and prices of goods.

“The ministry thanks the traders for complying with the order pertaining to SHMMP in conjunction with Christmas,” he told reporters via WhatsApp on Friday (Dec31).

He was asked about the ministry’s monitoring activity in conjunction with Christmas.

To another question, he explained that the issue of imported frozen meat cartel happened only in Malaya.

Nevertheless, he said the ministry would always monitor the situation from time to time.

The media recently reported that a meat cartel was believed to be involved in smuggling non-certified meat from China, Ukraine, Brazil and Argentina before repackaging them with fake halal labels at a warehouse in Senai, Johor.
