Tan Sri Datuk Amar James Masing

KUCHING: Deputy Chief Minister and Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing said the Umno-PAS union is not a new thing as they have done it before.

“They had done it in the past and there is no reason why they won’t do it again for political expediency,” Masing said referring to the Umno-PAS union in 1974 before they split in 1978.

Masing commented that DAP’s political rhetoric had angered and made the Malays feel very uneasy.

“In a multi-racial nation like Malaysia, extremism either in politics, social or religion must not be allowed to surface because it will attract opposite reactions,” said Masing, adding that the majority Malays would react to DAP’s Chinese-centric approach.

“I would like to advice DAP to tone down their Chinese-centric approach in administrating this nation, otherwise social and political tensions will surface.

“No reasonable minded Malaysian will want that to happen,” he said, adding in a multiracial nation like Malaysia and state like Sarawak, meaningful power sharing is the only way forward.
