BINTULU: The ‘Darul Hana’ issue raised by certain irresponsible parties would only cause racial instability in the state, said Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Integrity and Ombudsman) Datuk Talib Zulpilip.

He said the statements of the involved parties contain elements of defamation, false facts and manipulated assumptions.

He explained that Darul Hana is two Arabic words meaning ‘a place of peace’.

In the context of Sarawak Darul Hana, he said it simply means a peaceful Sarawak and the term has no ties to any religious elements.

Speaking at the Rumpun Silat Sarawak Wilayah Bintulu (RSSWB) dinner at a hotel here, Talib said the issue should be rectified in order to maintain peace and harmony among the various races in the state.

Talib, who is also Jepak assemblyman, said the issues should not be raised as it can erode the trust of the people and causes discomfort between races.

He also said that it is inappropriate for any party to negatively criticise the construction and naming of the iconic Darul Hana bridge.

The RM35 million bridge jointly built by PPES Works (Sarawak) Sdn Bhd and Naim Land Sdn Bhd under the implementation of the State Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) is a landmark in Kuching and a catalyst for the multiracial harmony.

Thus, he hoped that the people in the state would continue to practise mutual respect between all races.

Talib also reminded the people to not be easily influenced by the opposition’s propaganda as it threatens the present peace and harmony in the state.
