KUCHING: The haze has worsened again in Sri Aman and Miri. The Air Pollutant Index (API) readings in Sri Aman and at the Automatic Air Quality Monitoring Station at the Miri Industrial Training Institute (ILP) continue to increase but remain in the very unhealthy category as at 4pm yesterday.

According to the data released by the Department of Environment (DOE), the API reading in Sri Aman rose to 245, from 241, as was
recorded at 10am, while at the Miri ILP Miri, the reading at 4pm was 221, from 220 in the morning.

Meanwhile, the API reading at SK Baram 2 also showed an increase from 118 in the morning to 119 which is in the unhealthy category.

The air quality is good if the API reading is between zero and 50; moderate if it is between 51 and 100; unhealthy if it is between 101 and 200; very unhealthy if it is between 201 and 300; and
hazardous if it is above 301.
