Fatimah fields questions from reporters.

KUCHING: Holders of important posts in government must carry out the duties responsibly, professionally, fairly and equitably.

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said this when asked to comment on the resignation of Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) chief commissioner Latheefa Koya.

“Anyone who holds such an important position needs to be more professional in performing their duties.

“We do not want see a selective and biased prosecution, it has to be fair because they need to be professional, this is what we want,” she said while refusing to comment on Latheefa’s performances as MACC chief commissioner.

Yesterday, Latheefa confirmed her resignation as the MACC chief. She said her resignation was based on her own decision and denied speculation that she was under pressure to resign from her post.

It was also reported that MACC deputy chief commissioner (Operation) Datuk Seri Azam Baki will take over as acting chief commissioner.
