KUCHING: The Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) has given an assurance that there is adequate supply of face masks throughout the state amid the haze onslaught.

Sarawak KPDNHEP deputy director and head of enforcement Mohd Hanizam Kechek (pic) also denied claims that face masks were out of stock.

“We have increased the supply of N95 face masks in the market since early September,” he told reporters after officiating the state-level Consumerism Mini Carnival at Mydin Hypermart Petrajaya here yesterday.

Hanizam also added that the price was under control and there had been no complaints made by the public so far.

“We have not received any complaint yet, however, we will continue to comprehensively monitor the price of the N95 face masks throughout the state.”

The ceiling price of the face mask, he explained, had been set and declared under the Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011.

Urging consumers to lodge reports with the ministry if traders sold the face masks over its ceiling price, he warned, “Those who breach any provision under the Act for all types of face masks stated will face legal action.”
