SIMANGGANG: No compounds were issued to local traders throughout both the Hari Raya and Gawai Dayak seasons, said Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry Sri Aman chief, Pelani Kemiti.

Pelani told reporters on Friday (June 5) this was because the traders had complied with all the rules under the Festive Season Maximum Price Scheme (for Hari Raya Aidilfitri and Gawai Dayak).

“Their level of compliance during both festive seasons is excellent. I hope this would continue into the future. Apart from that, I remind the public not to make any panic buying because the food supply is adequate,” he said.

Pelani also advised all parties to adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) besides adapting to the new normal to prevent further Covid-19 infection.

“For traders, make sure you record the body temperatures of your employees and customers and ensure that they wear face masks while on your premises.

“In addition, you are encouraged to put marks on the floor to remind customers of social distancing, provide hand sanitisers as well as hand-washing areas, and put up notice boards about the importance of the new normal,” he said.
