MIRI: The Miri City Mayor Awards 2023 is all set to begin accepting nominations from today (August 1) to September 29, according to Mayor Adam Yii.
This year marks the fifth edition of the awards, which coincides with the Sarawak Government’s 60th Year of Independence.
Yii said the awards were initially launched in 2018, and due to the challenges posed by Covid-19, the 2021 and 2022 editions were combined last year.
The primary purpose of these awards is to recognise and appreciate the efforts of individuals, organisations, government agencies, local companies, NGOs, and others who have shown great passion, dedication, and success in contributing to various aspects that have improved life in Miri city.
Yii added that the contributions of the nominees will be assessed based on how well they align with Miri City Council’s vision for the city’s future – to become a Green, Smart, and Most Livable International Resort City by 2030.
He said what’s new this year is that there will be a broader range of categories, offering more opportunities for recognition.

For those who want to submit nominations, please get the Nomination Forms from the Public Relations Section on Level 5 of Miri City Council.
Alternatively, please download the forms from the Miri City Council website at https://miricouncil.gov.my.
Once completed, submit the forms either in person to the same office or through email.
The awards ceremony is scheduled for November 26, and will take place at the Grand Ballroom Pullman Hotel.
