KUCHING: A total of 213 schools in Kuching, Padawan and Kota Samarahan are allowed to reopen as the number of positive Covid-19 cases in the divisions has declined.
In the early morning, students were seen queuing up at their front gates while practising social distancing to get their body temperatures checked by their teachers which is part of the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Students and teachers were also seen wearing masks and some were even wearing face shields.
Taking body temperatures and personal details are the first things required of the students and teachers before they can enter their schools.
Hand sanitisers are provided at the front gate to make sure that whoever enters are disinfected.
Students and teachers must comply with the SOPs set by the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) for their very own safety and health.
Originally, the schools were to reopen on August 3 but due to the second wave of the pandemic that week, the SDMC decided to postpone it to today (August 17).
