KUCHING: The “coming of age” group or 18-year-olds should not be allowed to vote in the country’s election yet. Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) information chief Datuk Idris Buang, said lowering the voting age to 18 from 21 seems unreasonable.

“At their age, they should be acquiring knowledge and life’s skills for at least three years, that is, until they reach the age of 21 years,” he said in a press statement issued recently. For him the issue is more than just giving legal licence for the group to cast their votes, which is easy.
He is more concerned about the effect of their votes because the outcome determines the fate of the country.
