MIRI: The Northern Sarawak Journalists Association (NSJA) handed out food baskets to needy pupils of SJKC Chung Hua Tudan here.

Wednesday’s (Sept 15) event was part of the ‘Prihatin Kasih’ programme organised by NSJA, and Fire and Rescue Department Zone 6 Miri.

The donations were handed over by NSJA president Andy Jong Wan Joon to school headmaster Law Sie Kong, witnessed by NSJA secretary Michelle Choo and NSJA deputy treasurer Esther Ching.

“This aid is channelled to the target group so that they don’t feel left out by society.

“Apart from carrying out our daily duties as journalists, we also run the ‘Prihatin Kasih’ programme to help the community in and around Miri,” explained Jong.

Meanwhile, Law thanked NSJA for the initiative that “to some extent, this will help ease the burden of those who need help during the pandemic”.

The programme began in August, initially with the distribution of food baskets to NSJA members.
