KUCHING: Sarawakians are reminded to obtain official permits should they need to enter zones under conditional movement control order (CMCO) in the state effective Monday.

The CMCO is implemented throughout the state for 14 days until Jan 31, except for Sibu which has been placed under MCO, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) announced.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail when contacted, said during this period, inter-zone travel is prohibited except for those in the essential services and those who have permits from the police.

Eight zones placed under CMCO are Kuching (including Samarahan and Serian), Sarikei (including Betong), Sri Aman, Mukah, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Limbang.

However, Aidi said the public are allowed to travel within the respective CMCO zones except MCO zone (Sibu).

He noted that the police and army personnel would be setting up roadblocks in the eight zones from 12.01am on Monday.

SDMC’s decision to implement CMCO in the said zones except Sibu, is done in light of the increasing Covid-19 cases in the state.
