SIBU: Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Ministry and Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) will work closely with industry players, especially travel agents, throughout the state to address issues concerning infrastructure and facilities in the interior areas.

“As there are a lot of infrastructure facilities in the interior being managed by district councils, such as hotsprings and national parks, if there are complaints about these facilities not being up to expectations, we can immediately assist to improve them,” its minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah told a press conference after he officiated at the 2nd Matta Fair at the Civic Centre here yesterday.

Abdul Karim said the interior of Sarawak has a lot to offer tourists, but there is an urgent need to make it more attractive by upgrading basic facilities serving the products.

“Matta together with the other tourism industry players need to come up with good ideas and feedback so that we can together woo more tourists to Sibu which is a gateway to the interior of Sarawak,” he said.
