Oil tanker crash claims driver’s life

BINTULU: A 32-year-old oil tanker driver has tragically lost his life in a self- accident along the Pesisir Bintulu-Sebubu road today (August 18).

According to reports from the Fire and Rescue Department, a distress call was received at 6.10 am, prompting a swift response from a team based at the Kidurong fire station.

With additional support from the Bintulu fire station, the team was dispatched to the scene without delay.

Upon reaching the location, responders were met with an overturned tanker laden with petrol and diesel, its driver trapped within the confines of the driver’s seat.

Employing specialised equipment and a crane, the team successfully extricated the victim. However, despite their efforts, at 09.20 am, the paramedics confirmed the victim’s demise.

The victim’s remains have been handed over to the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) to facilitate further investigation into the incident.
