KUCHING: Old Kuching Smart Heritage (OKSHe) will continue working on creating employment opportunities for locals as well as protecting and preserving heritage products.

“Our role is to build an integrated, sustainable and holistic ecosystem while maintaining, preserving and conserving the heritage of the local community,” said its chairwoman Datuk Sabariah Putit.

“Through the strategic thrusts, OKSHe has implemented 79 initiatives together with 16 of our synergy partners in covering aspects such as infrastructure, community and innovation, socio-economy and branding,” she stated.

She said this during the OKSHe appreciation ceremony held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Friday (Jan 28).

Sabariah disclosed that the involvement of the community in the implementation of these initiatives has been a major success for OKSHe in developing heritage products to support the economic growth of local heritage products and services.

Three of the heritage products that have brought a high impact on the OKSHE community are Heritage Food Products, Handicraft Products such as Songket and Keringkam, and Heritage Trail Products.
