KOTA SAMARAHAN: Athletes with disability (OKU) can use the Sarawak Disabled People Carnival (Kokus), which began last Saturday, to prepare for the Malaysia Games Paralympics, to be held in Johor next year.

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said one of the objectives of the carnival was to bring together all OKU and prepare them, she said at the opening ceremony at Stadium Unimas here.

“This carnival is to groom and boost the athletes for next year’s Para Sukma and become champions for the 14th time.”

She added that Kokus was also to showcase the abilities of OKU athletes and to unearth new talents from the activities and competitions held.

“I hope all athletes enjoy a quality lifestyle, improve and push themselves, not only to represent Sarawak but also to the country in future,” she said.
