MUKAH: The old wooden bridge crossing Sungai Tellian at Kampung Tellian Daya (Tellian Ulu) here will be replaced with a new one.

Tellian assemblyman Yussibnosh Balo said it would be built using this year rural transformation programme (RTP) fund.

Costing RM250,000, the bridge project will be implemented by the Drainage and Irrigation Department (DID) Mukah.

“The implementation of the project is still waiting for the technical section of DID,” he told New Sarawak Tribune yesterday.

The former Balingian assemblyman was asked about the current status of the proposed project.

He revealed that he visited the project site two months ago.

The bridge was built over 40 years ago before it was improved about 20 years later.

It is six feet wide, over 100 feet long and 12 feet above water level (during low tide).
