One dead, 15 new cases

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 15 Covid-19 cases on Saturday (Jan 8), a slight drop from the 18 cases recorded the previous day. This brings the state’s tally to 252,476 cases to date.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 14 of the cases are in categories 1 and 2 while the other case was in category 4.

Seven of the new cases were recorded in Samarahan. Lawas recorded three cases while two of the new cases were reported in Kuching.

Kapit, Sibu and Beluru recorded one case respectively.

The committee also reported one fatality involving a 47-year-old man in Sibu which occurred on Jan 6. The victim passed away at Sibu Hospital.

SDMC said the victim had a history of diabetes, dyslipidemia and chronic kidney disease.

Meanwhile, the state reported 19 new person under surveillance (PUS), bringing the total number of PUS under quarantine to 353.
