SARIKEI: One person died, and three others were injured in a motorcycle and 4WD accident.

The State Fire and Rescue Operations Centre received an emergency call about the accident at 12.01 pm, and firemen from the Sarikei fire station quickly rushed to the scene.

According to the statement, the incident happened when the motorcyclist, along with a pillion and a 3-year-old child, sought shelter from the rain at a bus stop on KM25 Jalan Sebangkoi here on today afternoon.

The collision between the 4WD and the motorcycle occurred at the bus stop during the rain.

When the firemen arrived, they found the 4WD driver trapped in the vehicle, and they promptly carried out rescue efforts to free him.

The motorcyclist, identified as John Manja, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The police are now investigating the case.

Meanwhile, the 4WD driver, the pillion, and the 3-year-old child who were injured received immediate medical attention at the nearest hospital.
