FAS to continue bid to obtain M’sia League licence

KUCHING: The Football Association of Sarawak (FAS) will continue to appeal to the Malaysian Football Association Limited Liability Partnership (FMLLP) to obtain a licence to ensure Sarawak can continue to play in the Malaysia League 2018.

This is due to the decision of the governing body concerned (FMLLP) which once agai n dismissed the appeal submitted by the FAS as the audit report document requested did not meet the criteria. FAS secretary-general, Razali Dolhan said his party agreed with FMLLP’s decision but would appeal again.

“We agree with FMLLP’s decision but we will appeal in the nearest time to get a licence,” said Razali recently. According to Razali, FMLLP board members will hold meetings to discuss many matters, including the final appeal involving several teams.

He added that the FAS will submit the final appeal at a meeting with the FMLLP board members scheduled to be held very soon. Razali also saw Sarawak’s chance to return to action in the Super League 2017 scene.

This can happen if the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) comes up with a new format change – with 14 teams involving an increase of two new teams for the Super League 2018.

FAM in a statement issued recently rejected the licence applications of Sarawak and Felda United after the FMLLP free panel confirmed that the two teams have failed to meet one of the six set criteria – that is financial – to enable them to obtain a license.

The applications from the other three teams that faced the same issue, namely Kedah, Kelantan and Melaka United, however have been approved.
