MUKAH: A male car driver, known as Imban Mangat, 42, an Iban, succumbed to injuries after crashing head on with a lorry laden with cargoes at KM103 near to Sungai Ulu Balingian Bridge along the Sibu-Bintulu Road on Thursday.
During the 6.38pm crash, Imban died on the spot after his car reportedly went out of control and bumped head on into lorry laden with cargoes.
The victim who was driving alone was said to be coming from Selangau and going to Bintulu whereas the lorry was coming from the opposite direction.
According to Head of Traffic Investigation and Enforcement
Superintendent Alexon Naga Chabu, the victim was pronounced dead on the spot by a team of paramedics from Selangau Health Clinic who rushed to the scene upon receiving a distressed call. He pointed out the remains of the deceased would be brought to Mukah Hospital for post mortem. The case is investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
