One of three handphone theft suspects arrested

KUCHING: A 25-year-old suspect from Selangor who was among three suspects caught stealing four handphones from a phone shop at Tabuan Jaya near here was arrested in a house at Kpg Sg Periuk here at 2.30am yesterday.

A CCTV recording of the theft has gone viral since last Friday, the suspect with another two still at large has gone to a phone shop at Tabuan Jaya at about 9.30 pm. While one of her friends distracted the shop owner, the suspect and another suspect took four handphones from a display cabinet in the shop with a total value of RM8,105.

Police were called and after viewing the CCTV recording, two of the three suspects were seen taking handphones from the display cabinets.

The suspect was later found to be positive for drug and is being detained for further questioning. Police are looking for the other two suspects.
