One seriously injured, another unharmed in separate accidents

Firemen perform extrication works to free the injured driver.

BINTULU: A van driver sustained severe injuries following a two-vehicle collision near Signature Park, Mile 5, this morning (May 28).

The man, who did not have any identification documents on him, was promptly rushed to the hospital for immediate treatment.

The extent of his injuries is not immediately known.
 

It was reported that the accident, involving a van and a lorry, happened around 1.20am, and firemen from Bintulu station were despatched to the scene.
 

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said upon arrival, the injured victim was trapped in his seat, and the extrication works was performed.

Once he was freed, the victim was given first aid by paramedics at the scene before he was taken to the hospital.
 
The lorry driver, on the other hand, managed to escape the accident without any injuries.
 
Meanwhile, in a separate accident, a man in his 40s was lucky to have escaped unscathed after his pickup truck crashed along Jalan Ulu Layar, Bukit Sepak, in Betong last night (May 27).

The scene of the accident in Betong, where a pickup skidded, crashed into a ditch, and flipped on its side.

The accident happened around 8.05pm, and firemen from Betong station were deployed to the scene.
 
The driver had been rescued by the public before the team arrived at the scene.
 
A medical checkup was given to the victim to ensure that he was safe.
