NOW is the right time for global companies and neighbouring countries to invest in Sarawak through a new entity InvestSarawak.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said the Sarawak government would establish InvestSarawak as a one-stop agency for all investments and trades in Sarawak to improve the ease of doing business in Sarawak.

“This is important to facilitate and expedite the decision-making process with regard to any proposals by investors for Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Domestic Direct Investment (DDI).

“I would like to thank Yang Amat Berhormat Datuk Patinggi Premier and the government of Sarawak for entrusting my ministry to set up the agency, International Trade, Industry and Investment Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan said in his ministerial winding-up speech today.

He said the establishment of InvestSarawak was timely and critical in view of the increasing stiff competition for FDI not only from neighbouring countries and global competitors, but also from the other Malaysian states.

He said the focused approach would also enable the government to identify emerging technologies and business opportunities with strategic fit to Sarawak’s competitive advantages.
