KUCHING: Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bandar Bintulu will be closed until this Friday (Oct 16) after a Covid-19 case was detected.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement said that the Sarawak Education Department had instructed the school to close for seven days in order to carry out sanitisation and cleaning works.

“This is as contained in the school closing instruction letter due to the confirmation of Covid-19 infection case, from the office of the deputy director-general of Education Malaysia,” it said in a statement on Monday (Oct 12).

Meanwhile, another decision by SDMC after its meeting was on entertainment centres that violated the standard operating procedures (SOPs) during the recovery movement control order (RMCO) period.

SDMC said entertainment centres that violated the SOP will be ordered to close for 14 days from the date of the compound that has been issued.

They said entertainment outlets that are operating without a licence will be ordered to close or action will be taken.
