Online gambling agents nabbed

The suspects are being questioned by policemen on their involvement in online gambling activities.

KUCHING: Police arrested two men and a woman at separate locations for operating as online gambling top-up agents last Friday (Sept 3).

The first arrest involving a 19-year-old woman, took place around 5.50pm in a coffee shop at Jalan Matang-Batu Kawa.

“During questioning, the suspect from Kampung Bobak, Bau, had admitted to engaging in online gambling activities.

“The team seized a phone, cash amounting to RM643 and a piece of paper written with numbers believed to be IDs and passwords,” Padawan police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said.

Meanwhile, the arrests involving two men both aged 51 years, took place at two separate coffee shops in Emart Matang.

He said both suspects from Kampung Buntal, had admitted to engaging in online gambling top-up sales.

Aidil added that two phones and cash amounting to RM450, were seized from the two suspects as evidence.

“All three suspects who do not have any past records, will be remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 4(1) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953,” he said.
