KUCHING: A team from Padawan district police headquarters (IPD) arrested an online gambling top-up agent in a continuous operation to combat illegal gambling activities on Friday (Sept 4).

Padawan district police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan said that the police caught the 29-year-old man during an “Ops Dadu” raid to a grocery store at Taman Palma Batu 8, Jalan Matang around 10pm.

Police team during the raid spotted the man sitting behind the counter of the premises.

An inspection was conducted on him and his phone and he was found to be involved in gambling activities.

“During questioning, he admitted that he is working as an online gambling top-up seller.

“The raid team then seized a smartphone, RM180 cash and a piece of paper with numbers written believed to be related to gambling activities,” he said in a statement.

He pointed out that the case is being investigated under Section 4(1)(c) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953.
