KUCHING: Police arrested a woman for operating as an online gambling top up agent, in a coffee shop at Jalan Batu Kawa last Thursday (Sept 2).
Padawan police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan, who confirmed the case, said the 29-year-old woman was detained by the district police’s task force around 5.45pm.
“The team raided the premises and detained the suspect who was sitting behind a counter for inspections as she was believed to be involved in online gambling activities.
“Her phone and cash amounting to RM200 were seized as evidence,” he said.
The suspect is currently under remand to assist in investigation under Section 4(1)(c) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.
She faces a maximum fine of RM50,000 and a three-year jail term, if convicted.
