Online gambling top-up seller caught

BAU: A local man was arrested for allegedly selling online gambling top-ups at premises at Jalan Bau-Batu Kawa last Thursday (Oct 15).

District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the “Ops Dadu” operation was carried out at 1.50pm by a team of Bau Crime Investigation Division (CID).

“When the team raided the premises, they found the 34-year-old man behind a counter.

“The man was inspected and was subsequently arrested for allegedly selling online gambling top-ups. The team also seized a smartphone and cash from the man,” he said in a statement.

Poge noted that the man, who had no past criminal record, was brought to the police station for further actions.

The case is being investigated under Section 4(1)(c) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953 which carries a fine of not less than RM5,000 and not more than RM 50,000, or imprisonment for a term not exceeding three years upon conviction.
