KUCHING: Padawan police arrested a 34-year-old foreign man for allegedly selling online gambling top-ups at an unnamed shop next to a laundrette at Mile 12, Jalan Kuching-Serian around 3.30pm last Wednesday.

Padawan district police chief, Supt Aidil Bolhassan, said the man from Singkawang in Indonesia admitted that he sold credit top-ups for online gambling.

“During the raid, police seized a Samsung-type smartphone and cash amounting to RM410,” he said in a statement yesterday.

The man will be investigated under Regulation 3 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within Infected Local Areas) (No. 6) Regulations 2020.

Aidil also said that his personnel inspected another shop at KM18.5, Jalan Kuching-Serian prior to the raid.

“During the inspection the police did not find any gambling activity. However, the premises will be monitored from time to time,” he said.
