KUALA NERUS: Online traders have been reminded not to raise the prices of their goods indiscriminately throughout the Movement Control Order period.
Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Ministry (KPDNHEP) Deputy Minister Datuk Rosol Wahid said monitoring was constantly being carried out through digital platforms to prevent fraud and price manipulation of various items including face masks and food items.
“Online traders must adopt good business ethics and should not take advantage of consumers by increasing prices during this difficult time.
“If there is a complaint made to us, action will be taken against any trader under Section 11 Price Control Act and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011 (PCA & APA 2011),” he told reporters after presenting contributions under the Food Bank Siswa programme to Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) students at Kolej Kediaman Sheikh Abdul Malik here today.
Also present were UMT vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Nor Aieni Mokhtar and Terengganu KPDNHEP director Saharuddin Mohd Kia.
Meanwhile, Rosol who is also Hulu Terengganu MP said as of January, the Food Bank Malaysia programme had benefited 622,726 households from the B40 group.
“While the Food Bank Siswa programme has benefited some 12,851 students as at March 31,” he added. – Bernama
