KUCHING: The Ministry of Education (MoE) has recently approved an allocation of RM113.76 million for the State Education Department (JPNS) for purchasing hostel furniture (RM8.5 million), and maintenance and repair of schools (RM105.26 million) throughout the state.

The department’s head of infrastructure and procurement, Wan Fadillah Wan Ahmad, said 217 projects involved will be implemented via online voting, 196 implemented via open quotation, and 543 small maintenance works via direct purchase at the district level.

“JPNS will hold the voting for 50 schools – 10 in Kuching, Samarahan (three), Simunjan (25), Bau (five) and Lundu (seven) at 10.30am on June 10 live on the department’s Facebook and Google Meet.

“Registration of contractors by email is from June 6 to June 9 and the voting is open only to G1 class contractors registered in the five districts only. For more information, please visit the department’s website at https://jpnsarawak.moe.gov.my and Facebook page. Eligible contractors are invited to participate in this poll,” he said in a statement on Friday.

He also said 167 projects will be voted on by G1 contractors at the district level.

“Voting will be held by the respective District Education Offices (PPD) with the breakdown of projects as follows: Baram (10), Betong (11), Bintulu (11), Dalat (nine), Sri Aman (13), Sarikei (10), Selangau (10), Kapit (12), Julau (10), Subis (nine), Kanowit (eight), Sibu (eight), Tatau (six), Song (six), Daro (five), Lubuk Antu (five), Miri (five), Saratok (five), Meradong (four), Sarikei (four), Limbang (four) and Lawas (two).

“The voting will be held from June 15 to 29. Interested G1 contractors can visit the department’s Facebook or its website at https://jpnsarawak.moe.gov.my or contact the nearest district education office for more information on dates and the voting process,” he said.
