KUCHING: In line with the extension of the movement control order (MCO) from June 15 to 28, all construction sectors are not allowed to operate except for critical construction and maintenance works at construction sites which have been listed in the MCO standard operating procedure (SOP).

Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) said such critical works, if not continued, could cause danger or harm to the public and the environment.

It said this in a statement today (June 12), directed at contractors of construction works under the supervision of DBKU and professional or consultation services involved in the construction industry.

In this regard, the commission said the relevant parties must comply with the SOP issued by the National Security Council and also directives from the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee.
