PROTECTING STATE RIGHTS

MIRI: Only Sarawak based political party, Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is capable of protecting Sarawak’s right, and not those political parties from outside the state, said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“The coalition (GPS), with the shape of the letter ‘S’ reflecting a hornbill (kenyalang) will fight for and protect our rights,” he reiterated when addressing some 7,000 people during the launch of GPS Zone 12 (A) comprising N67 (Jepak), N68 (Tanjung Batu), N69 (Kemena) and N70 (Samalaju) at Rumah Robert Tugang, Jambatan Suai near here yesterday.

Abang Johari reminded the people to take good care of Sarawak by staying united and preserving the harmonious relationship among the multi races.

“We are a multiracial state. We live together in peace and harmony like one big family, do not let outsiders to divide us,” he said.

He pointed out that it was crucial for every Sarawakians to take care of their beloved homeland.

“It’s just like you taking care of your own wife. Some people might want to take Sarawak because this state is beautiful and blessed with natural resources,” he said.

Abang Johari also announced several development projects in Suai, including RM50 million for water supply project which would benefit 20 longhouses in the area and RM1.5 million to build Kampung Iran waterfront in Samalaju.
