KUCHING: Constituents in the Santubong parliamentary constituency who have been given housing lots should build only one house in each lot to facilitate administrative matters and for safety reasons, said its Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar today.

He said building more than one house in a housing lot would create problems for the recipients, especially to obtain the Temporary Occupation License (TOL) or land grant.

“It is also one of the conditions set by the government. We (state government) do not want residents to build houses too close to each other for safety reasons, like in the case of a fire,” he told reporters in Kampung Muara Tebas here.

Wan Junaidi, who is also Entrepreneur Development and Cooperative Minister, said more resettlement areas would be set up in the Muara Tebas, Bako and Buntal areas, all in the Santubong parliamentary constituency, to facilitate restructuring of existing densely populated villages to make them safer.

Earlier, he presented cash of RM3,000 and tithe from Bank Rakyat to fisherman Abu Bakar Ja, 68, whose family of nine people lost their home in a fi9re last Saturday. – Bernama
