KUCHING: The Malaysian Armed Forces’ ‘Op Murni’ has proven to be beneficial to flood affected areas in Matang, Bau and Taman Malihah, extending crucial assistance to residents grappling with the aftermath of heavy rainfall.

In a statement, the Malaysian Army revealed that troops and resources from the 11th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment were swiftly mobilised as heavy downpours since yesterday (Feb 17) led to flooding in several areas across Kuching.

The operation, which included the provision of boats and life jackets, saw army officers deployed to aid affected residents and flood victims in the region.

Additionally, teams under the Third Malaysian Infantry Brigade remained on standby to facilitate evacuation efforts and engage in cleanup activities in flood-impacted areas.

Highlighting their commitment to community welfare, the Malaysian Army pledged to undertake secondary tasks as part of ‘Op Murni,’ assisting other public agencies in their endeavours to restore residential areas affected by the floods.
