KUCHING: The Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) implemented ‘Operation Crocodile’ along the Sarawak River following public complaints on crocodiles seen in the areas involved.

The operation started on March 14 and ran until March 17.

SFC stated that the areas involved in crocodile removal operations were rivers near Kampung Bintawa, Kampung Pulo, Kampung Semarang, Petanak, Padungan, Kampung Panglima Seman, Kampung Sinjan, Kampung Tupong, Kampung Ajibah Abol, Kampung Patingan, and Kampung Kudei.

“A total of six SFC Enforcement and Protection officers from the Kuching Regional Office were involved in the mission of tracking and catching crocodiles to reduce the crocodile population along the river.

“Methods such as rigging and the use of firearms were used throughout the operation. However, thus far, no crocodiles have been detected and the operation will continue from time to time,” SFC said.

They also requested villagers in the area to give their full cooperation to ensure the success of the operation.
