BAU: Three suspects were arrested in three different locations for online gambling activities during an anti-gambling operation codenamed Ops Dadu yesterday.

According to Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon, the first to be apprehended was a 41-year-old man. He was detained at a coffeeshop at Jalan Stenggong, around 2.30pm.

“A Vivo handphone and some cash were also seized from him.

“The suspect admitted to be involved in online gambling activities,”Poge said in a statement issued yesterday.

In the second raid conducted at a mini mart around 3pm, police arrested a 20-year-old woman.

A Neffos handphone and some cash were seized from her.

Meanwhile, a 34-year-old man was arrested in the last raid conducted at a mart in Singai Tondong. A Vivo handphone and some cash were seized from him.

All three suspects did not have any past criminal record. They were handed over to investigation officers for further action.

The cases are being investigated under Section 4 (1) (c) of the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953, which provides for fines of RM5,000 to RM50,000 and imprisonment for up to three years upon conviction.
