KUCHING: The district of Kuching has now been categorised as a Covid-19 orange zone.

This is following the rapid decline in number of Covid-19 cases detected here recently.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the district recorded a total of 37 locally transmitted Covid-19 cases in the past 14 days.

“Miri and Lawas districts remain in Yellow status while the other 37 districts remain green,” it said in a statement issued today.

SDMC said there were also no additional cases to the six existing active clusters in Sarawak.

Additionally, the committee informed that there were 16 newly recovered and discharged cases, namely 14 from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and two from Miri Hospital.

“This brings the cumulative total of recovered and discharged cases to 1,008 or 95.27 percent of the total Covid-19 cases in Sarawak,” the commitee said.

It added that 31 patients were currently receiving treatments at isolation wards in hospitals with 27 at SGH and two each in Miri and Sibu.

“206 new persons-under-surveillance (PUSs) had been checked into hotels to undergo quarantine.

“This brings the current total number of PUSs at 34 hotels and non-hotel quarantine centres statewide to 3,476 persons, while 33,496 PUSs had completed their quarantine period,” said SDMC.
